In Western Europe, the largest share of butthurt is generated by Britain, with an average of 120,000 metric tons of butthurt generated annually. Baltic butthurt is unevenly distributed. The most butthurt nation in the Baltic is Lithuania, with a lion's share caused by Poland. Austria and Czechia generate outsized amounts of butthurt. Italian butthurt is relatively low given the size and history of the country. Much Italian butthurt is internal butthurt, mostly between the north and the south. Some butthurt is also generated from Corsica not being Italian, however, this only contributes around 200 metric tons of Italian butthurt annually.

Switzerland is a curious and complex case of butthurt. While Switzerland is among the top causes of European butthurt (being among the major causes of German, British, Belgian, Italian, and even American butthurt), Switzerland generates almost no butthurt within the country. Even internal butthurt is relatively minor or at least not spoken about. Even more curious is that despite the disproportionate amount of butthurt directed at Switzerland, responsive butthurt from Swiss is very rare. Further study of this unique phenomenon is desired.

Of the Scandinavian nations, Denmark and Iceland are the least butthurt nations. Almost no butthurt is produced by these nations. Similarly, Norway and Sweden also generate very low levels of butthurt, despite being the cause of some butthurt, especially in Britain. Of the Scandinavian nations, Sweden generates the most amount of butthurt, much of it being directed against Poland and Russia.
Finland generates a higher level of butthurt. Finnish butthurt is also widely distributed, with Finnish butthurt directed against almost every nation in Europe for some reason. However, by far the largest cause of Finnish butthurt is Poland. The source of all butthurt.

The various micro-states of Europe produce almost zero butthurt.

In North America, the largest amount of butthurt is generated by the USA, with American butthurt reaching British and even German levels. However, American butthurt is skewed strongly by the numerous 1/16th Prussian Master Race posters who spend 84% of each day being butthurt about various countries in Europe they have never been to. Curiously, Canada is not the largest cause of American butthurt. The largest causes of American butthurt are in order: Poland, Britain, Ireland, Switzerland, Ukraine, Albania, Kosovo, Belgium, Germany, Russia, and Romania, these countries causing 62% of American butthurt. Further study is necessary to determine whether the majority of these butthurt posters know exactly where these countries are.
Canadian butthurt is much lower than American butthurt, being congruent to Polish or Russian levels. However, Canadian butthurt is very similar to American butthurt in distribution both of those who are butthurt, being generated mainly by 1/16th Prussian Master Race posters, and the direction of the butthurt. However, Canadian butthurt skews more strongly against Ireland than Britain.

If I may, fellow scholars, I wish to propose an unexplored theory.
People that have the time to shitpost for long enough to develop "posting insanity" aka butthurtism (from now on Posters, capital P) have to be either unemployed or mentally ill. This is bad in general but its uniquely bad in work-focused cultures such as Germany
In richer countries, or countries that are not as work-oriented, such as the nordic countries or former soviet states*, there's a wider share of Posters, since people have more free time.
Countries with only mentally ill Posters will inevitably appear as more butthurt. OP's map is fundamentally a "insane Poster- regular poster ratio" heatmap.
Consider for example the case of Chinese posters. Since they have their own internet, a chinese post in english, on a western imageboard, on western topics, implies such deracination and political poisioning that its impossible to imagine anything but a completely insane, socially maladapted schizoid behind the screen.
If we had more details, we'd most likely see that rural or poorer areas appear as more butthurt. Most people would dedicate their time to work, so an angolan or guinean Poster would almost by definition be mentally ill.

I do believe that if we had statistics on the ethnicity and socio-economic status of the userbase, we could see that the butthurt-Posters-per-100k posts ratio is higher on economically "developed" countries and lower on underdeveloped. It'd be interesting to see a study in that sense, if there's not one already.

I consider butthurtism to be both an illness and a mental disorder, as well as a syndrome and a set of symptoms.
As the etymology of the word implies, "butthurt" is derived from "to physically feel pain in the anus". The illness comes from these physical discomforts in the rectum, and the pain, in extreme cases, is so unbearable that it makes its victim not only feel pain in his rectum but in other body parts as well, most commonly in the lower back.
Post-traumatic syndrome is the cause of many of butthurt's cases. An exmaple would be something like "I like a girl but she doesn't like me back, then I shitpost on reddit for 2 years, now I'm an angry, autistic, man-child who can't stop thinking about how mean that girl was and I can't see her face without feeling nauseated".
Since butthurt is derived from butt pain, you can identify it through the ass, the most obvious of these symptoms is an urge to constantly sit on things. An example would be one of those weirdo's who bring a bunch of stuffed animals with them to college, then take pictures with them. Another is the obsession with comfy chairs and beanbags.

So, the subtype of butthurt being analyzed here seems to correlate a lot with historical grievances.

I dont think a normal or succesful well-adjusted person can have *any* of the traits above. Its severe mental illness of the same dimension as depression.

Good take but this only affects butthurtable people. A normal person would mope around for a week and then move on.
There's a previous condition here that is triggered by what would be a very minor traumatic event.
You also see this a lot in online politics. People getting assblasted by inane offhand comments and spend the next several years building up hate towards completely unrelated people.
European/American back and forth online hate is almost exclusively because of this.

To circle back to my original point, only mentally ill people have the time and lack of social skills necessary to be on the internet for long enough. They inevitably run into more mentally ill people, wilfully misread completely inane comments, butthurt someone else, and the other party does the same thing to them.
Only the mentally ill are butthurtable, so any butthurt map is actually "percentage of mentally ill posters".
Easy examples of this are altchans such as this one, where the more you deviate from the mainstream the more diseased, antisocial and butthurt the average poster becomes.

There is a small mistake in the map doe. There should be another level of butthurt made specifically for poland. Poland is the nation of seethe, it's population hate everyone and everything. The most hated enemy of a random pole is, ironicly, another pole, ESPECIALLY his neighbour. This can also explain large ammounts of german butthurt - segnificant part of butthurting germs are in reality poles that moved to germany. The reason behind why poland is such a seething country is probably the fact, that it was raped by it's neighbours for all it's history.
