NIGGA. do you live in algeria or some shit? theres quite literally dozens of other better ways that dont eat away your graphics card like a t-bone steak to get passive income through the computer, but most if not all of them require you to actually do something manually and not your 'puter to do it for you.

>archlunix
https://vid.puffyan.us/watch?v=_JYIAaLrwcY
the pajeet just made a video about how to NOT install arch btw, but this gives you an idea how to do it
youll jut use MBR+BIOS boot and throw everything onto one partition, and only use a boot partition if you have to
and use zswap if you want to, that compreses a part of your RAM and uses it as SWAP, in reality youll never run out of ram if you have more than 4 and dont run modern big games, this will be faster than any hard drive swap is, almost as fast as real ram, and only require minimally more CPU power to (un)compress your zwap.

 12931

>>12929
>require you to do shit manually
yeah, exactly.
you can run 200 thinkpads and let them mine crypto while pirating electricity, or have a single gpu and work your ass off 4 hours per day for a few bucks more.

 12932

>>12929
you're supposed to have dedicated gpu's in a warehouse for that, or turn your house into some doom/system shock looking autismo server room with cables everywhere

 12933

>>12910
What is noveau
What is KMS/DRM
and cuz my card apparently doesn’t have support for it, will shit break?

 12934

>>12933
DRM in this case stands for direct rendering manager
the other DRM people cry about all the time is called digital rights management, aka digital restriction management
its the shit that prevents you from swapping your cpu out if you run windows, and forces you to reactivate it
or forcing you to have an internet connection to play singleplayer games to "prevent piracy"
or to prevent you from copying your videogame console games and playing them in an emulator
etc etc…
in other words, DRM means freedom restriction, but this DRM has something to do with your gpu drawing shit to your monitor, so does KMS
dont ask me why soydev named those things like that, but i doubt its coincidence.
KMS stands for kernel mode setting, its shit you need for running gayland, or changing your TTYs resolution
i dont know how it works in detail but it works on any sane GPU driver, like mesa or nouveau
nouveau is the free novideo-gpu driver for GNU and other operating systems, its high quality code actually, but it has a reputation for not working well because novideo gpus refuse to run without proprietary signed firmware
even if you had the source code of that firmware, you'd have to ask novideo to sign it for you, so you effectively have defective hardware that will refuse to do what you want, and can only run it in a system novideo approves of, and only do stuff novideo approves of on it.
in other words, you dont own 'your' gpu, congratulations, you just bought e-waste.
this isnt important for you to know at all, but you asked so i explained it.
'your' card supports lunix with proprietary drivers, its just freetard distros that will have trouble with it, you'd have to manually install the proprietary drivers on those.
arch is a proprietard distro, so pacman -S nvidia-dkms
nobody will realistically run gayland anyway, except fedora tards who use GNOME, its completely useless.

 12935

>>12932
sure if you actually wanted to make a ton of profit and had to rent a whole hall and pay for electricity
but all youre doing is pirate some electricity and turn it into money while youre not using your computer and just sit back

 12936

>>12934
Is there any way to force my card to accept those drivers
That’s so retarded they don’t let you do what you want with it, holy shit fuck corporations

 12937

>>12934
Also the card on my laptop is an nvidia card btw so I’m sure I’ve got to do some tomfuckery to get it to work

 12938

>>12936
free drivers without proprietary firmware?
nope.
youre going to have to install the proprietary drivers because novideo forces you to
or well, good luck figuring out novideos private key to sign your firmware after reverse engineering it kek
99% of the time the only difference between novideo drivers and free drivers will be freedom, if all you do is run X11 without KMS enabled or any of that fancy shit
you dont actually need to enable KMS, thats only for running graphical programs in a tty, like playing a video without starting X11 first, or running gayland. novideo cant do that.
in reality, only schizos like me will use a tty for that stuff, and you will just run X11 to play a video anyway.
the proprietary drivers will work on arch, but you have to install them manually since theyre not in the kernel.
pacman -S nvidia-dkms
and reboot, thats literally all you need.
>>12937
is it kepler (gtx 780ti family) or older?
then itll work just fine, and in fact, better than with proprietary drivers.
a 780ti is considered the holy grail of freetard gpus because its the last novideo card that completely works at full speed without performance hits, without any proprietary firmware or drivers
as well as the (probably) most powerful (and easiest to find) desktop card youll get, aside from integrated intel shit in old laptops
yes, some 2016-2018 AMD cards will kinda work, but they need driver hackarounds or they might not have working 3d.
that means using ati drivers and having crappier performance than normally (might be better than a 780ti, but also more expensive, and more power draw), plus some broken things such as suspending your machine, GPU brightness control, and issues with CRTs.
thats because ati drivers arent made for those cards, theyre made for 20 year old ATI gpus.
amdgpu/radeon drivers need proprietary firmware to do 3d as well, so no, amd drivers are NOT 'free', this is how open sores lies to you.
it tricks people into buying garbage hardware for "freedom" just to find out that the proprietary shitware is shoved from the driver into firmware blobs, but in the end youll still run proprietary firmware and a ""free"" driver
all the driver does is talk to the gpu and load the firmware onto the gpu.
if you want freedom, use an old intel gpu, or a 780ti.

i keep my computer next to me 24/7
if someone raids me i can take out the battery to shut it down, my encryption password is also over 40 chars long
even then, i have a screen locker, and they'd have to poke around with probe wires on my RAM or CPU to get rid of it, in my running computer

in terms of freedom, yes
so just use arch or mint, mint will even ask you about your drivers i think, your gpu will 'work' and display your desktop and all that with nouveau (even without firmware, but you wont have vsync, hardware acceleration, etc… since it will literally act as a VGA adapter now if you dont have firmware)
with firmware, which is present on mint and any other proprietard 'just werks' distro that doesnt care about freedom, hardware acceleration will kinda work, but it will be slow as fuck because the GPU firmware rejects anything other than the proprietary driver approved and signed by novideo for reclocking the card, that means you CAN run your own drivers (with proprietary firmware) on your card, but itll be stuck at its base clock, so 1/20 of its actual performance, or maybe worse, i dont know.
i just know that youll get 5fps in minetest with it, which would run at 60fps on a potato thinkpad from 2008.
tl;dr, install the proprietary novideo drivers and enjoy your big novideo cock.

the counter IS the meter reader
they have a reader in their central too, but its all mixed with the electricity for the entire village i live in

How do you think the electric company knows how much to charge you each month? They send a person to read your meter every few months. Now of course its done over 3G/4G signals automatically but if you are living in bumfuck nowhere then eventually the reader is going to show up.

You make up the most outlandish stories that everyone knows you make up. Why on earth would you drive a metal pole into a power meter to try to disable the gears even though 0.8mm is about as thick as pencil lead and isn't stopping a high torque motor. You could have just said you bypassed the meter but instead had to make up an outlandish story. How about you go outside and take a picture of your power meter to prove that you disabled it?

 12971

>>12968
first of all, here in germany you report your meter count yourself, and they check it every 10 years or so to ensure it adds up with what you reported,
second, our counters here are literally 50 years old, theyre mechanical squeaking boxes with cogs.

 12972

>>12970
the cog i blocked spins around entirely in about an hour or so, i just had to glue it in place and tape it to the wall so it lifts the cog and allows the other one to rotate freely without actually flipping the numbers on the counter, i only do this for 3/4 of the year though because it would be suspicious if i suddenly consumed less electricity than normally
