I used to use a floating window manager (sowm) but resizing my document viewer to take the left half of the screen and my text editor to take the second half is too much work
also because I don't like to set wallpapers, so with a floating window manger unless it has borders (like mwm) It is really hard to see if your xterm is coliding with other xterms

yes, relative to electron, qt is quite simple.
A basic qt/qml program's dependencies add up to 30mb, which can be reused everywhere on the system.
and unlike electron you don't need to bundle react shit since qt includes an analog to it.
