I recently found this project called scrcpy on github which is written mostly in C and mirrors your screen on android to a pc at 60fps even on those 2009 thinkpads. It also mirrors audio and allows controlling your PC with your phone through an OTG connection and a bunch of other shit I won't get into, oh it also allows making a virtual camera using your phone's camera as well as control your phone through your PC obviously.
