>No, just hearing of terminal browsers and ncurses. Ncurses seems autistic. Also, what the fuck is going on in the terminal besides [vim]?You can make games in the terminal, TUIs in the terminal, IDEs in the terminal… Basically everything that doesn't require full-color pixel graphics. But the retarded thing is that you have to send escape sequences through stdout to perform terminal commands such as clearing the screen or readjusting the cursor, etc. So everything you do is first sent through an ASCII-endoded command buffer, interpreted by the terminal emulator, and then rendered. That's extremely slow. I'd rather have a standard programming environment that included a text or pixel canvas by default, just like POSIX has stdin and stdout by default (or whatever specifies that).

>>3791get a T470 or T470s. It's like $200 now and it's pretty fast (fastest dual core i7)
>browserungoogled chromium with store extension

>phonesome unlocked one like Pixel 3a, then install GrapheneOS. If you listen to music then use LG v30.
CopperheadOS is potentially less glownigger phone OS because it doesn't have SELinux (aka created by the NSA)
№3832
>>3831also if you are gonna use a small laptop or anything equal to or slower than a T470s, then use XFCE/LXDE on linux. Xubuntu for example comes with this preinstalled. Runs fast, it's the same speed as a high end desktop on windows
№3834
>>3830you just killed every terminal larper in the world
№3836
>>3834GUIs are probably faster than TUIs, because the whole terminal infrastructure is so retarded. But if you were building a system that was exclusively made as a text/glyph canvas (optionally even with scrolling text functionality like normal consoles), without any 70's terminal emulation crap, TUIs would be way faster, since they require less memory bandwidth to render something.
I actually have been thinking about doing something similar as a new graphics standard which I want to incorporate into my homebrewed FPGA CPU ISA. Basically, the FPGA needs to contain dedicated circuitry that will abstract away the actual graphics interface and either consume batches of pixels to render, or batches of indices into a lookup table of sprites, when in raster mode. Basically the most primitive GPU that allows you to directly write to the screen without any bloat. The CPU itself already has enough parallelism through a GPU-kernel-like SIMD mode to perform the rendering itself, so all that's needed is a way to efficiently bulk-transfer image data.
