Stop frying your corneas and buy a E-ink monitor already.

 7026

now this is actually an interesting and good idea
not like the contrarian crt autists frying their eyes with xrays and shit

 7027

>>7026
Shhhhhhhh~ don't wake reddit up.

 7031

>>7026
A CRT has the same radiation ammount that a fucking banana has.
Dumbass.
Next thing you are gonna tell me is that microwaves give you cancer when microwaves are in the non-ionizing range of frecquencies.

To answer OP, E-ink is coal for anything that's not reading documents. Awful refresh rate make them awful displays for a dynamic user experiencd, watching videos and playing videogames.

 7038

>>7013
aren't e-ink monitors absurdly expensive?

>btfos you

 7055

>>7013
overpriced and they dont even have colour
also the pixel response time is insane, its even worse than normal LCDs
>>7026
again, there are no xrays coming off the front, literally go and hold a geiger counter at your CRT, and expose it to the sun outside for comparison
>>7038
literally the only advantage of them is that they work outside and don't have backlight, in a dark room you won't be able to read shit, it's just like a book.
it would only make sense to buy a laptop/tablet screen like that, but not a fucking desktop monitor

Indeed, only total tards are afraid of CRT radiation. I've been using one for decades and I'm perfectly fine. (pic related, it's me).

test

 7064

>>7063
Was the test successful?

 7066

>>7026
>not like the contrarian crt autists frying their eyes with xrays and shit
The screen of crts is made of thick crystal glass. No X-Rays are coming through it.

Yeah, and what about the other 80% of monitor that isn't covered in three feet of heavy ionizing resistant crystal glass?
You might as well just sleep with pic related at that point.

I do not think you understand how a CRT works.

 7089

>>7064
test failed, try again chud
>>7075
the whole front and most of the sides are, and when do you sit anywhere next to a CRT?
you always sit in front of it, and even the sides don't emit much more than the natural background radiation you get anyway
there is no radiation coming off the back where the electron gun is and you don't sit behind or next to the tube, so you're good.

here is a redditor holding a geiger counter to a CRT. No measurable radiation.

 7092

>>7090
holy shit this is a garbage CRT, washed out colours and blurry as fuck
it looks very old, im surprised by how little radiation comes off this thing because old ones were considered to be "radiating", since they didnt have all the radiation blocking shit new ones have

 7095

>>7092
Well it's clearly really old. I bet the NES or whatever is feeding into it is using a RF modulator. If the TV was modded for composite it would look a lot better.

and ignored

Damn, redditor's got the same geiger counter I've got

Is the GMC-300E the commodore 64 of geiger counters?

How come only like two companies manufacture these things?

I'm not interested in getting a monitor, well at least not when they're so expensive now but an e-ink tablet would be pretty gemmy for reading. What's the best least locked down by Jewoogle and Amazon tablet I can get, ideally with an SD card slot.

I've got a big backlog of stuff I really should read.

>>8896
>How come only like two companies manufacture these things?
Because they're very niche and don't excel very well for playing videos, for now anyway. Otherwise they'd be mass produced by a ton of companies.

It's primary purpose is for reading with the intimidate eye strain you get from LCD's and CRT's, no one said anything about gaming on it beyond maybe some old turn based RPG's and visual novels.

Read books without having to make a special trip to the library, hence the term 'E-ink displays'.
