Aren't almost all laptop CPU's soldered to the board nowadays given mobile processors are getting smaller and smaller? Also motherboards themselves have shrunken a lot to the point where it doesn't matter much and you still get to use all the daughter boards since everything is cross compatible.

Get a refurbished laptop or just build a small Cooler master PC then, also how else are they supposed to compete with giants like Dell, HP, and Apple? Just be thankful we've got a company that actually supports right to repair and isn't anti consumer and anti ownership like all the others who are basically pro WEF at this point.

Also you save money in the future if a part ever fails for whatever reason since you can just replace it rather than throw the whole thing out. Meanwhile other manufacturers are soldering basic parts like the RAM and SDD's to the motherboard and then gluing the things such.
