you CAN on the other hand, take the ME, take it apart, remove everything unnecessary for booting, pack it back together, and trick the CPU into thinking that it's a valid intact full ME image, while in reality it's only a 70KiB stub of garbage that can't do much and will kill itself after boot (or is told to do this at least)
even if it didn't kill itself after you told it to, it can't do much because most of its code (originally 6M or something) was removed.
for most people this is good enough, but for schizos as myself, it's not. i rather stick to a 100$ X200 potato than a 50$ X230 that could actually run modern web browsers and video games, for freedoms sake.
(besides, the build quality on modern thinkpads is garbage)
