>>6315>samsung evojust use a cheap 128-512G SATA SSD as boot drive, ideally kingston or samsung
for storage you'll be using HDDs anyway
try to get SAS HDDs, 15K RPM SAS HDDs are very cheap and very fucking fast, especially if you use RAID, and they don't randomly fucking die like SSDs.
>logitech keyboardget an IBM Model M (the original one), or if youre too poor to afford that and want a hecking soyper key, unicomp makes clones with super keys and if you want, an USB controller too so you don't need a PS/2 adapter
>radeonget a GTX 780ti for <100$, all modern garbage GPUs are literally scam and all you would use them for is running proprietary modern garbage games and AI bullshit, its a money sink.
besides, you can't even use any of those new GPUs without proprietary abandonware drivers that will break in 5 years and wont work on non-approved operating systems like openBSD or TempleOS kek, enjoy being locked in to winkike and lunix (maybe freeBSD) forever
>AOC 24B1Hoverpriced hot steaming garbage, get a cheap CRT monitor from the dumpster, or spend 100-300$ on a high quality trinitron (or trinitron clone), dont even get me started on how awesome they look and how hard they BTFO even the best OLED monitors in nearly all aspects
>b-but muh vga le badDVI-A is analog video, the connector is different but the signals are the same, a DVI-A/DVI-I to VGA adapter/cable costs 5-10$, and the 780ti has a DVI-I port, also DP to VGA converters exist and can actually give you higher quality than a real VGA port in some cases, that includes less JPEG-y quality, higher resolutions, and higher refresh rates
my CRT can do up to 3200x1800@60Hz or normal resolutions (like 1440x1080) at 160Hz, and its 21 years old!
HDMI and DP were still shitting their pants compared to VGA, and still do today.
also holy fucking overpriced, you can build 2 PCs and buy a CRT for just the GPU price
>another overpriced flatscreen piece of shitget a second CRT or a cheap dumpster LCD for <20$ if you don't care about quality much when doing work, so you don't waste all the electricity for your fancy CRT and don't waste its life time just to read text and shitpost on internet forums, use your CRT for what its best at, playing video games and watching videos.
i really dont understand why gamerfags aren't all using CRTs, the motion blur is literally non existent and you can use any refresh rate from 60 to 160hz, as well as any resolution you want. dont need much detail but want to max out framerates? 800x600 or 480x480 and 160Hz, there you go
want to watch some video at its native res and refresh rate as accurately as possible without wasting performance or interpolating the framerate or resolution?
go ahead, LCDs can't do this.
>215$ for a PSUehh, sure, corsair is usually overpriced and i recommend superflower or be-quiet PSUs, but seriously, don't cheap out on PSUs, you'll regret doing that.
you can (and should) buy used PSUs off ebay, spend 50-100$ on a 200W gold PSU
>muh ayymdscam, proprietary garbage, will refuse to boot if you fuck around with it, designed to break, literal troon garbage
get an old server board and buy 2 opteron 63XX/62XX or 43XX/42XX CPUs, youll end up with 16-32 cores and theyre very cheap (10-30$ per CPU)
>overpriced modern garbage ASUS motherboardASUS KCMA-D8 if you want a budget system with up to 64/128 gigs of ram
ASUS KGPE-D16 if you want up to 128/256 gigs of ram and 32 CPU cores
both of them are server boards and not actually meant for playing gaymes, and they dont have onboard soundcards, wifi, or other fancy shit but theyre usually garbage anyway and cant be swapped out. get an audigy 4 and use ethernet, or any cheap ath9k wifi dongle/card if you want kikefi for whatever reason
seriously, the audigy 4 sounds great, and youll get it for 15-20$ on ebay.
and no, you won't get modern nvme/msata zoomer bullshit or DDR4, nobody needs this overpriced failure-prone nonsense.
what you get is DDR3 ECC RAM at 1600MHz, that will always work no matter what. if it fails, since its a server board it will actually tell you what fails instead of just ACKing and telling you "lol fuck you go figure it out and spend 2 hours troubleshooting it with trial and error" like meme gaeming hardware for consoomer trannies.
>RGB RAMholy fucking shit are you retarded?
why would you spend 150$ on this shit?
64 gigs of 8x8GiB 1600MHz DDR3 ECC RAM from kingston or hynix cost 50$ on ebay (or at least it did when i bought mine a few months ago)
why do faggots love RGB so much?
its gay, it wastes electricity, it distracts you, it wastes performance, and you pay extra just for some gay LEDs, and usually need proprietary wintoddler shitware to control it anyway.
>>6318buy used shit from ebay like a white man
>>6319both soy
yes gaming motherboards are soy, but that one is also garbage
you dont need more than 80hz when gaming, the only reason to use more than 60hz is if your eyes are too good. you can easily test if you actually need 70/80/whatever-Hz by just running your CRT at that refresh rate and displaying a very white/bright image. if you see flicker, turn up the refresh rate until you don't see flicker anymore, anything past that sweet spot is just wasting performance and may even lead to framedrops. if youre fine with flicker and rather have a very liquid, sharp, and good looking image with zero motion blur, or just have potato hardware that would get framedrops, set your CRT to 60-70hz.
>>6321my screens are either entirely flat or curved outward, seethe harder gaymer troon.
>>6320for watching movies you want a CRT since you can set the refresh rate to exactly the multiples of 24/23.976/whatever Hz so you don't waste performance or have a crappy image from framerate interpolation. the same goes for resolution, upscaling shit from 480p to 1080p looks like ass, but watching it at native 480p looks awesome. in fact, i even downscale 1080p movies to 480p just because it looks better, especially cartoons that were drawn less sharp.
>>6320KCMA-D8, or literally just get a thinkpad and hook it up to a dock if you don't care about performance and just want a computer to shitpost on, play old games on, and watch some movies on.
>>6321modern flat curved screens for GAEMING are a meme, curved CRTs aren't, but i prefer flat trinitron CRTs.
oh yea and install libreboot on your motherboard obviously, because you DONT want to get fucked by new ""vulnerabilities"" (backdoors) found in proprietary bioses, especially ASUS garbage has been affected by this.
dont even get me started on how terrible proprietary software (especially firmware) is, you can't even make a fucking bios backup anymore, thats how bad it is.
mounted your EFI vars as R/W and accidentally overwrote them somehow?
TOO BAD! you cant make a backup and cant unbrick now, you have an expensive paperweight.
want to flash a backup from someone else on the internet or from another board that is exactly the same model?
too bad, you cant. the IME or PSP will PREVENT you from doing so and either refuse to boot or shut down after 30 minutes due to "anti theft", or something else (like TPM, JewEFI, "soycure" boot, etc...) will ACK and refuse to boot.
modern UEFI images are unique per board unit so youre basically fucked and have to buy a new motherboard if you run
rm -rf /*
on accident KEK
oh and you can't compile your own firmware, you cant customize it, you will experience bugs the board vendor doesnt care about and refuses to fix (like not being able to boot off an external hard drive or any sata port that isnt sata0, bios randomly locking up, hotswap not working, USB keyboards not working, etc...), and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it other than to buy a new motherboard.
did i already mention all the leaks and 'vulnerabilities' people are chimping out about?
theyre shitting their pants over source code leaks because now every script kiddo can backdoor them, not just asus, intel, amd, the nsa, the cia, the fbi, mossad, shinbet, your mom, etc...
