We had this space age technology and we threw it away for shitty chink trinkets built on the same technology as the Game Boy.

 8924

"Space age" because it also gives you eye cancer like solar radiation in open space?

 8925

>>8912
Holy fuck I hate nostalgianiggers so much, just get an OLED

 8926

>>8924
yeah, so what? you got a problem with that motherfucker?

 8927

>>8924
eye cancer is good for you. whatever doesn't kill you makes you strongers. i mean seriously shut the fuck up idiot

CRTs made after 1970 throw less radiation into your face than a banana
>>8925
pic rel, OLEDs have horrible motion blur, latency, and burnin compared to CRTs
>>8934
poorfag cope, imagine not being able to afford a good CRT lol

Don't care

Literally no one manufactures them anymore though, of course they're gonna become increasingly more expensive.

Maybe if you live in a third world country. I live in a town in america and you can't find them on craigslist and facebook marketplace anymore. Only for $200 scalper price.

 8994

>i transheart big bulky obsolete technology

 9001

crttards/gnutards have a mental blockage where they are incapable of understanding that their solutions are not applicable to everyone. A lot of people don't have the room for a bulky CRT monitor. If I put a CRT on my workbench I would lose a third of the deskspace.

This thread mogs the HRT.... I mean CRT trannies and redditors.

IMAGINE the response time and motion blur, you don't even have colour LMAO

 9037

>>9033
CRTs burn in too idiot. I have the Mac menu bar permanently burned into one and a Logic Analyzer menu burned into another.

 9038

>>9034
>do you live in a tiny 5x5m^2 pod or some shit?
are you illiterate? I don't have room on my desk. It's a big desk, really a modified drafting table (probably 42"x30"). I still do not have the deskspace for a trinitron monitor, and a keyboard+mouse. I can't easily mount a CRT either. The only CRT monitor is a small shitty one on a shelf which I use to test weird multisync rates with an FPGA.

 9051

>>9038
>wah wah i dont have the deskspace
my desk is small and i can fit 3 CRTs, a server, AND a thinkpad on it
>>9037
iToddler moment
they dont burn in nearly as quickly as OLEDs, but have superior quality to LCDs, almost as good as OLEDs

 9066

>>9051
The picture tube is made by Samsung. Nothing to do with Apple. I do hardware on my desk and need the space for soldering, scope, etc. Are you seriously telling me that you know what is best for my setup despite never seeing it before? Biggest issue with freetards, sign of low iq.

Ever heard of this neat little invention called a screensaver? It's a cool animation that plays while your computer is idle. You should consider getting one.

 9070

>>9069
>screensaver
If a screen saver is available for an HP 1660 Logic Analyzer I am not aware.

 9095

>>9066
>he solders on the same desk he shitposts at
are you retarded or something?
get a second desk you retard holy shit, do you want your keyboard to be stained in flux or some shit?
>>9069
a screensaver wont help you if you never fullscreen anything because you are an iToddler who has never heard of such a thing, let alone being able to use a screensaver in the first place
>>9070
xscreensaver
if your computer cant run X11 its garbage.

 9098

>>9095
why the fuck would a logic analyzer run X?

 9100

>>9098
why the fuck would you hook something that can't run X up to a monitor?

 9106

>>9100
why would you hook a refrigerator that cant run X up to your power outlet?

 9110

>>9106
a refrigerator doesn't have a display, the only reason to have a monitor rather than a TTY is to make use of every single pixel in your configured resolution

 9146

>>9095
>keyboard to be stained in flux or some shit?
you shouldn't have to bathe your boards in flux dumbass. Flux core solder exists. Use it.
>mac fullscreen
Modern MacOS maximize button IS the fullscreen button. How do you not know this? It's a Mac SE from 1987.
>xscreensaver
WTF????????? picrel is what I am talking about. it's a LOGIC ANALYZER from HEWLETT PACKARD which CANNOT AND DOES NOT RUN UNIX.

 9147

>>9095
i actually am amazed at how stupid gnupedo is. he doesn't even know what a logic analyzer is, nor could he take the time to look up "HP 1660"

 9157

As autistic as the worship behind them is, CRTs are the best display tech out there. No input latency, instant pixel response time, built in anti-aliasing, decent enough burn-in resistance, possible perfect blacks, and good brightnesses. Consumers fell for the LCD meme sheerly because of size and weight and the marketing pushing such as futuristic and aesthetic.

 9158

>>9157
I'm sure some gayming company would produce one if reviving their production wouldn't be so expensive, but for now we'll just have to deal with new shit catching up.

 9160

>>9146
why yes, i DO bathe my entire PCBs in flux
>how do you not know this
because i have never seen a crapple product other than cups with my own eyes in real life
>IT CANT RUN UNIX WAH WAH
what DOES it run?
some hacked together proprietary lunix-based firmware?
winglows 98?
>>9147
looks like an overpriced proprietary modern oscilloscope to me, but judging by the floppy drive it probably runs winglows 9X if not some proprietary hacked together firmware with ancient lunix
and no, i wont look it up.
>>9157
theres a reason people collect CRTs and are obsessed with them you know
the only downsides are weight, the tubes dying after 20-30+ years (still lasts longer than CCFL, OLED, or most other flatscreen garbage, and looks better), and me constantly having to calibrate the fucking geometry, CRT newfags aren't told about this and then cry about it afterwards, so just that you know, you will spend some time calibrating your monitors to make everything nicely aligned with the edges of the phosphorus surface, while still keeping the geometry look right.
>>9158
theyre probably waiting for the 50$ CRTs on ebay to completely disappear so they can bash hundreds of shekels out of gaymers who buy those CRTs

 9224

>>9160
>what DOES it run?
Custom HP Logic Analyzer Firmware, obviously. It runs on a mc68000. It has 128 channels. Go learn what a LA is. You are a luser if you don't know what a LA is.

 9227

itt poorfag neets using ewaste and coping
