ok listen up, i have a rather ambitious plan, what if we made our own doom WAD? we could replace the sprites of the enemies, make new levels and add more guns

Gzdoom will be used because it's more powerful than regular doom and doesn't limit you to shitty doom file formats. SLADE is a file editor and Doombuilder is map creator.

Don't use .WAD, .PK3 archives are much better as they allow for file structures and some custom code stuff.

Nah I wasn’t involved before since I‘ve seen my fair share of imageboard meme WADs that turned out complete coal or just disappear, so I ignored it.
I recently made a Swedejak sculpt for fun and when I stumbled over this thread again I thought it would be fun to turn him into a cacodemon and throw a pixel shader on it, turns out this shit is fun as hell and now I want to help turn this into an actual gem and not just another moonman.wad clone. If it goes nowhere I‘m still having fun.

I can't. To say two-decades old hardware is outdated is an understatement, so I think you need to budge if you want to play this wad. I'd have to write in what is practically a different coding language to support your idea, so it's out of the question.

That's a big budget. Less than half of that amount can get you a really powerful 'gaming' desktop. A cheaper option, integrated graphics on a newer laptop, gets the job done, but comes with less of a benefit for more sophisticated PWADs and modern games. Probably not what you asked, though.

First 6 maps, the main character fights through a more rural set of levels, near his home.
After map 6, he gets transported into the internet. For the next 5 maps, he fights through websites like 4chan, twitter, cr*stal c*fe and the 'arty.
He leaves the internet through troon's room. I haven't planned too far ahead of that, and I think I'll release the first 6 maps in an 'episode' before releasing another episode, or the entire thing.

I can do scripting stuff, the only thing I cant really do is levels. Well I could to an okay extent but it seems like you have that covered. Not sure if that changes anything in terms of extra things you would want for the mod like guns and enemies. I made the chud weapons btw.

yes, pic rel is a wad called total chaos, and this is running in gzdoom.
